An even, smooth, and glowing complexion is desired among many! At Pinnacle Dermatology & Skin Rejuvenation, we offer laser skin resurfacing to address common signs of aging and sun damage to help you achieve the beautiful skin you are striving for.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure performed to reduce facial lines, wrinkles, scars, and blemishes. At Pinnacle Dermatology & Skin Rejuvenation, we use fractionated CO2 laser skin resurfacing to rejuvenate the skin for a more youthful appearance. The CO2 laser is an ablative laser, which means it works by removing a thin layer of the epidermis (the topmost layer of skin) and heats the underlying layer called the dermis. This stimulates collagen production, resulting in clearer, smoother, and tighter skin.

This procedure can be used to target the following:

  • Acne scarring.
  • Fine lines or wrinkles.
  • Sun damage.
  • Uneven skin tone and texture.
  • Birthmarks.
  • Enlarged pores.
  • Warts.
  • And much more!

Who is a Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

If you are a healthy adult who is interested in improving your overall complexion, laser skin resurfacing may be a good treatment option for you. However, this treatment is not recommended for those with very dark skin tones, a history of keloid scarring, those with very lax skin, or those who have taken Accutane within the last six months. A consultation appointment at our office with Dr. Gray is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

The Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment

There are some steps that need to be taken prior to your CO2 laser treatment to prepare your skin. This will involve a series of treatments to increase your skin’s tolerance and decrease the risk of side effects.

During the treatment session, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the targeted area to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Your skin will also be cleansed. The CO2 laser handpiece will then be moved slowly across the designated area. Once treatment is completed, the skin will be dressed in wraps to help protect it.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Results

In order to ensure the best possible results from your CO2 laser treatment, be sure to follow Dr. Gray’s specific post-treatment instructions. You should avoid taking very hot showers, keep the wound moist, and change the dressings regularly to promote quicker healing. Antibiotics and painkillers may be prescribed if needed. Overall, recovery for the face can take 7-14 days and may be longer if the treatment area is larger. Once the skin has healed, which is usually over the course of 3-6 months, you can enjoy a great improvement in lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and other skin blemishes for years to come!
