Did you know that our blood is made up of liquid and solids; the liquid part is called plasma, and the solid part of your blood contains red and white blood cells and platelets. PRP cosmetic treatments separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of your blood in order to harness the amazing anti-aging and healing qualities it possesses. If you are looking for an all-natural way to rejuvenate and replenish your skin, PRP cosmetic treatments are a great option to help you reach your anti-aging goals.

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) treatment is an advanced skincare technique that uses your own blood platelets and growth factors to rejuvenate your skin. At Pinnacle Dermatology & Skin Rejuvenation, we use PRP along with microneedling or post CO2 laser resurfacing to improve your overall skin texture and tone, as well as enhance the overall health of your skin. PRP works by stimulating collagen production and regenerating tissues, resulting in a smoother, tighter rejuvenated appearance to your skin.

PRP cosmetic treatments can be used to improve the following:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Mild skin laxity.
  • Dull or dry skin.
  • Uneven skin tone and texture.
  • Hyperpigmentation.
  • Acne scarring.

Who is a Good Candidate for PRP Cosmetic Treatments?

If you are looking for a natural way to improve your overall skin appearance, you may be able to benefit from PRP treatments with Microneedling or post CO2 laser resurfacing. Plus, because this treatment uses the blood from your own body, there is little to no chance of an allergic reaction, which makes it a great option for many!

Those with certain blood clotting conditions or blood-related disorders, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not be good candidates for this treatment option. The PRP Treatment Process

The PRP treatment process will begin with drawing your blood, similar to a routine blood draw at your doctor’s office. We will then place your blood into a device called a centrifuge, which will separate the blood platelets from the rest of the blood. This platelet-rich plasma is then placed onto the skin, and microneedling is performed over it or it is applied to your skin immediately after CO2 laser resurfacing. This will allow the PRP to penetrate deeply into the skin, allowing the growth factors to stimulate cellular turnover and new collagen.

PRP Results

Following microneedling with PRP cosmetic treatments, you may experience temporary redness or swelling, which will dissipate over the next few days. There is minimal downtime needed, though we recommend avoiding exercise that will lead to excessive sweating and avoid applying cosmetic products for 24 hours post procedure. You will be able to see a visible improvement in your skin 2-3 weeks after your PRP cosmetic treatment, which will only continue for the next 3-6 months. Many patients report refreshed, rejuvenated, and healthy skin for 12 months to 2 years.
