Radiesse® is a dermal filler used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds in the face, and can also be used to correct volume loss in the back of the hands. This filler is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. Once it is injected, it provides immediate volume and continues to work by kick-starting the body’s process of generating collagen and elastin for a long-lasting effect. Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA microspheres, leaving behind only your own natural collagen

Ideal candidates for Radiesse® are healthy adults who wish to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the lower face or restore youthful volume in the back of the hands. You should not receive Radiesse® if you have a skin infection in the treatment area, have a history of severe allergic reactions, have a bleeding disorder, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. During your Radiesse® appointment, you will have the choice to use topical numbing cream on the targeted area to ensure your comfort. The skin is first sterilized and then, Radiesse® will be injected into the treatment areas using a small syringe. The procedure can take between 10-20 minutes to complete, depending on the number of injections needed and the amount of change desired.
Following your Radiesse® treatment, you may experience temporary swelling or bruising at the injection sites, though these effects should dissipate with time. There is no downtime needed, so you can feel free to return to work or your everyday activities right away. However, you should minimize strenuous activity and avoid extensive sun or heat exposure for about 24 hours after treatment and until any swelling or redness has resolved. Results should be noticeable immediately and can last up to 12 months.
