Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that transforms the look and feel of damaged skin to smoother, cleaner healthier looking skin. It is a new technology used by our Master Medical Esthetician Nikki Robbins to improve these skin imperfections without surgery. Through the years men and women alike are bothered by a variety of skin imperfections. They may have acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or enlarged pores that they wish to improve.
It involves a small device that penetrates the skin creating controlled micro-dermal injuries. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin which in turn fills these imperfections, thus improving skin texture and firmness. While Micro-Needling alone will stimulate collagen, Dr. Gray may choose to add cosmeceuticals, stems cells, or growth factors to further enhance cell rejuvenation.
What are the benefits of Microneedling?
Many skin conditions can be treated with Micro-Needling. It improves skin texture and firmness, reduces the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, melasma and hyperpigmentation. Micro-Needling can be used on all skin types and almost anywhere on the body, even around the eyes.
How many treatments will I need?
That depends on the area and condition of the skin being treated. Many skin problems can be effectively treated with a series of 2 – 3 treatments repeated 4 – 6 weeks apart as needed, while others may need between 4 – 8 sessions 6 weeks apart as needed.
How soon will I see results?
Improvement is often seen within 1 – 2 weeks, however achieving the desired results may take a couple of months depending on the severity of the condition being treated. For 1 – 2 days after the treatment there may be some mild swelling and redness similar to a sunburn.
Is Microneedling safe?
There is relatively little risk when performed by skin care professionals using medical grade devices performed in a medical office. Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and colors and there is little risk of infection.
CAUTION: “At home models” can present many safety risks. They include improper hygiene before, during and after the Microneedling takes place; the quality of the needle; the appropriate needle length; and the possibility of infection and/or scarring.
What are the treatments like?
Before your treatment, our our Master Medical Esthetician will evaluate your skin condition and your goals to determine the appropriate number of sessions. Prior to your treatment a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area. The microneedling device will then deliver thousands of micro-injuries to initiate the body’s wound healing process. The skin will be red and the tiny channels made in the skin will be open for about 18-24 hours post procedure. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure, retinol products, exfoliants, and waxing before and after the treatment.
Micro-Needling treats all skin types and almost any part of the body. Schedule your consultation with our doctor today.
